TOGAF as a Architecture Framework. Been running through the TOGAF framework and have been overall impressed with the structure of the process. From the way it is structured you can make out that it is a mish mash of Agile and reusable component model that is in vogue similat to any SOA roll outs.

NOKIA N810 / ROKU NETFLIX DEVICE / PS3/Mac Mini

Nokia N810 tablet is a device that can provide with hours of online time with good capabilities to handle most day to day activities. Been using this device for the last few weeks and it has replaced many times the use of my Laptop and Desktop.

Nice configurable interfaces with fantastic set of applications make it a desirable device to use.

Typical uses on a daily basis : I use it watch YOUTUBE. At times it is not great with a 3G connection through my Nokia 6655 (Service from AT&T) but streams well through the Wifi connect. Pairing up with the Nokia 6655 is a breeze and the connection is active only when needed.

Paired well with my Blue tooth Logitech keyboard. I use this with Yellow Dog Linux on my PS3. This paired up with my Nokia N810 without any problem.

Been using the device to add to my instant queue in Netflix and it helps a lot that i do not need to open up my Laptop to add to the queue. The Roku Netflix device works without any problems and the picture quality is good enough (not perfect HD content) on my Sony Bravia. This Roku device has made my Mac Mini redundant. I was using this device to play the movies on my Sony. I use VMWARE Fusion to run the Netflix streamer. The unity function in VMWARE fusion makes IE part of the MAC dock and makes it a nice way to use the device as a media center.

This is my own den, I just happen to stumble upon writing on topics ranging from Aardvarks to Zorillas. May be in these sections you may find interesting information, links to plentiful web sites where you can go through a journey. Since the topics are varied, you may end up checking out on the latest linux distro to the making of the march of the penguins , or a note on the movies i watched.

I would like to update the page as often as possible and would like to share things that Wowed me this week, the day, the month or the hour. Not sure however, how much i enjoyed that section or topic.

Well welcome to the journey, hopefully you enjoy my ramblings.

Malware Damage - It is real and you need to be ready ...

Once this information is stolen, it can be used for identity theft, financial fraud, and other malicious activities. System damage: Some malware can damage your computer system, causing it to crash or malfunction. This can result in lost data, system downtime, and costly repairs. Financial loss: Malware can also be used to extort money from victims. For example, ransomware can lock down a victim's computer and demand payment in exchange for the decrypti...

CIO Questions answered - Your comments welcome - The reflections of the inner self

Briefly describe the typical size and organization of an IT team that you have managed. Include the division of responsibilities, how you track progress, etc. My experience ranges from me working independently, mainly to maintain my independence when I perform audits to managing a team of more than 25 - 100 consultants in various roles. I have handled multiple projects simultaneously where we have multiple consultants (typically from five to ten) working on multiple projects. We have used a set of tools to specifically monitor progress as well as the milestones. The projects involved were simple roll out of products (Microsoft Active Directory Domain Builds, Log Consolidation, Vulnerability Management) in line with product specifications to complex integration of systems that involves building multiple SoA interfaces for healthcare applications. For a successful project there needs to be proper delegation, personally I believe a person can deliver if he is not micromanaged, identifyi...

A Roadmap to move from Cloud to In premise - The reverse migration -- Is Cloudflation at myth?

Cloudflation as a term is being used and talks on the spiralling cost of cloud bills for an organization. The easily available and provisioning options leads to workloads that run for no reasons, orphaned accounts and a gamut of costs that are accrued by multiple departments without much of an oversight. There is a trend to reduce the workloads and have a semblance of order. It is imperative that we have plans that helps to reverse the migration to cloud and bring back some of the workloads that might work cheaper to run local. Is there a roadmap to achieve this goal? A few pointers in this direction A roadmap for moving from the cloud to in-premise computing should include the following steps: Assess current workloads: Assess the current workloads that are running on the cloud and determine which workloads would be most suitable for in-premise computing. Identify in-premise infrastructure: Identify the in-premise infrastructure that will be needed to run the identified workloads....
